Virginia Tech

What a travesty.

I totally agree with you. The fact that this man showed signs of mental disturbance and yet no one did anything to help him is shocking. I haven't read too much about this today but this is just so so sad.

well, they didnt do nothing. they said that the English department tried to get him to go to counseling but couldn't force him.

A friend of a friend recently had a huge outburst on campus, disrupting class and jumping on walls. DPS was called and he was taken to the counseling center for help.

I was so happy to hear that they took him first to the counseling center and recognized that despite the disturbance he caused. Counselors were able to talk to him (he had luckily been persuaded by another friend to speak with them earlier this semester) and he is taking some medication to help him with his anxiety.

Ren's right, the English department can't force him. It's a shame he didn't have a confidant, like my my friend above did, who had persuaded him to seek help. Mental health, like you said earlier, is just as important as physical health.
